The Jewish Fund for Abortion Access is the community-driven force to activate Jewish values, build powerful on-the-ground coalitions, and provide real-time support for abortion access. Learn about recent works supported by the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access.
The Jewish Fund for Abortion Access engages three levers — inspired by the Jewish sage, Hillel — to affect both timely and systemic change:
Advocacy and education
1.
Through the Jewish Fund, we root our activism in Jewish values.
A gift to the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access shows that you refuse to allow abortion bans to violate your religious freedoms and those of other people of faith. You become part of a collective Jewish community standing up for abortion access and care at the national and state levels, driving holistic systems change to improve reproductive health, rights, and justice. This work is often driven by local National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) sections working in coalitions on the ground.
Direct patient care
2.
Through the Jewish Fund, we build powerful collaborations with those meeting the needs of patients seeking reproductive health care.
A gift to the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access assists patients in navigating the varied and ever-changing landscape of reproductive health care. Our diverse community partners know best where funds are most urgently required, and resources from the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access provide financial resources to organizations working directly with patients in need. A collaborative, community-informed nomination process determines those partners on the frontlines of ensuring critical abortion care. Your contributions activate real-time support for patients in the areas of greatest need.
Emergency fund
3.
Through the Jewish Fund, we act quickly and effectively on behalf of those most impacted by abortion restrictions.
This is an emergency. Millions of people don’t have access to reproductive health care, including abortion, and their lives are at stake. Every dollar contributed to the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access builds power for the movement for reproductive freedom and makes a real difference in the lives of patients seeking abortion care. The Jewish Fund for Abortion Access supports National Council of Jewish Women in our response to the ever-changing landscape and helps us nimbly and flexibly address urgent needs, potentially including the following — and everything in between:
Mobilizing rapid response action if medication abortion is banned nationally
Helping families navigate restrictions on IVF, fertility treatments, and embryo storage
Preparing multifaith amicus briefs in specific lawsuits that arise
In the first phase of the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access, we collectively raised $1 million to help patients access abortion care. More than 90% of these funds came from thousands of small-dollar donors, with some gifts as small as $3. Every dollar counts.
Help us continue to leverage communal impact. Please donate to the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access today.
All donations made through this form will support NCJW’s Jewish Fund for Abortion Access.
If you’d like to make a larger gift through a foundation, set up a matching challenge, or donate by check or donor-advised fund, please email us: development@ncjw.org

Advocacy & Education
The Jewish Fund for Abortion Access supports abortion justice advocacy and education at the local and state levels. Grant examples include:
NCJW Cleveland mobilized advocacy efforts for the November 2023 ballot initiative to enshrine reproductive rights in the Ohio constitution.
NCJW Arizona mobilized a signature drive to help ensure Arizona secures a 2024 ballot measure to legalize abortion in Arizona.

Direct Support
In 2024, the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access distributed grants to two organizations that were nominated by their peers for the work they do to directly support those most impacted by abortion bans:
West Alabama Women’s Center serves low-income uninsured, underinsured, and Medicaid patients. 80% of those they serve are Black, 10% are LGBTQA, and almost none have primary care providers.
Jane’s Due Process was the first organization founded in the US to exclusively serve teens seeking access to abortion, despite parental involvement laws. They continue to serve young people under the age of 18 in Texas who are seeking access to abortion, birth control, and information about sexual and reproductive health.
Emergency Fund
The Jewish Fund for Abortion Access emergency grants address unknowns in a rapidly changing post-Roe environment.
In March 2024, the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access made its first emergency grant to the Jewish Fertility Foundation to support families whose fertility journeys are being impacted by the Alabama State Supreme Court ruling on IVF and later rulings by the Alabama state legislature.

It is not “either or,” but rather “both and.” The need is great across the country and all support is needed. NCJW’s Jews for Abortion Access campaign seeks to create a way for the Jewish community to come together and meet this critical moment to get dollars directly into the hands of those most impacted by the abortion access crisis our country faces. This answer was not written by lawyers and should not be considered legal guidance: States with laws that allow people to be sued for aiding and ‘abetting’ folks accessing abortion care are meant to be tricky and act as a deterrent. For this reason, we can’t give you a clear answer as there is so little precedent given the newness of the laws. On our part, data of who contributes to the fund is private and NCJW will do everything in our power to not share it should we ever be asked to.
